About LifePath Hospice

LifePath Hospice, a not-for-profit, community-based organization, was established by community leaders in 1983. The mission of the agency is to provide quality palliative care and relieve the suffering of those in our communities affected by life-limiting illnesses and end-of-life issues, maintaining the highest ethical standards, so all may live as fully and comfortably as possible.

LifePath Hospice provides expertise in pain and symptom control and seeks to enable patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life. A team of physicians, nurses, social services specialists, certified hospice aides, chaplains and trained volunteers treats the entire person, not just the disease. Family members are taught how to take care of their loved one and when requested, are given an opportunity to take a break from providing direct care. Family members (as defined by the patient) are also provided emotional and spiritual support for up to one year following the patient's death.

LifePath Hospice's care is available for anyone residing in Hillsborough County who has been diagnosed to be in the last 12 months of a life-limiting illness.

LifePath Hospice services are based on medical need and are provided regardless of ability to pay, age, race, creed, sex, lifestyle or illness. In 2008, LifePath Hospice delivered $4.4 million in charity care.

As one of the largest not-for-profit hospices in the nation, LifePath Hospice continues to be a leader in program development. Programs to meet the specialized needs of the people in our community include the Caregiver Program, Circle of Love Children's Program, Family Camp Program, Nursing Home/Assisted Living Facility Program and Circle of Love Center for Grieving Children. Hundreds of patient/family care and administrative volunteers serve as a vital resource to the hospice program.

There are more than 4,100 hospice programs nationwide; most are Medicare certified. LifePath Hospice is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and Florida Hospices and Palliative Care, is Medicare and Medicaid certified, and is licensed by the State of Florida Agency on Health Care Administration.

LifePath Hospice received Joint Commission accreditation in March 1998.

LifePath Hospice is not affiliated with, nor sponsored by, Blue Shield of California or its licensee, LifePath Holistic Services.
