Grief Services

The hospice movement has long been associated with providing quality, home-based care to individuals coping with terminal illness, but LifePath Hospice has much more to offer, including supportive services for family members and friends coping with the death of a loved one. All of LifePath Hospice's grief support services are facilitated by bereavement specialists. The following grief programs help assure the long-term emotional, mental and physical well-being of survivors of all ages by helping individuals adjust to their loss and express their feelings.

Individual & Family Counseling
Death in families affects members in a variety of ways. Relationships and emotions can change so drastically that behavior and communication can be dramatically disrupted. LifePath Hospice's bereavement specialists offer guidance, attention and support to hospice survivors within the family system as they work through the grieving and healing process.

Memorial Services
Memorial services provide a time to honor the memory of loved ones and allow closure for LifePath Hospice families, staff and volunteers. Services are offered several times a year at various locations throughout Hillsborough County and are open to LifePath Hospice survivors and the community.

Adult Grief Support Groups
LifePath Hospice's grief support groups offer support and education by helping survivors cope with their emotions, new roles in life and plans for the future. Groups are scheduled at various locations throughout Hillsborough County on an ongoing basis. Pre-registration is required, and the groups are open to all community members who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Children's Services
Children may need additional supportive services to help them cope with the death of a loved one. To meet the special needs of young grievers, LifePath Hospice offers the following services and events through the Circle of Love Center for Grieving Children:

  • Children's grief support groups for children ages 3 to 18 and their parents or caregivers
  • Circle of Love Children's Camp for children ages 6 to 16
  • Other special events held throughout the year

For additional information or to register for any of our grief services/events, please contact the Bereavement Department at (813) 877-2200 or 1-800-209-2200.

Volunteers are the heart of our Center. After completing our extensive and inspirational facilitator training program, volunteers offer their time and compassion to assist in facilitating our groups for children, teens and adults under the direction of our core staff.
