LifePath Hospice recognized as a
Circle of Life Honoree!

LifePath Hospice recently was awarded a Circle of Life Citation of Honor from the American Hospital Association (AHA). The AHA recongnized LifePath Hospice for expanding the frontiers of palliative and end-of-life care while improving access and quality in ways other organizations can adopt.

"LifePath Hospice is a true leader in program development and in the advancement of palliative care through its conitunal improvement and contributions to the field," said Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the AHA. "Its open access program brings care to those who do not yet fit the traditional definition of hospice care and it is for this reason that it was awarded a Circle of Life Citaiton of Honor."

The Circle of Life Award Program celebrates organizations that have expanded palliative and end-of-life care. LifePath Hospice is one of nine organizations honored nationwide this year by the Circle of Life Award Program. Nearly 50 organizations applied. The AHA is a major sponsor of the program.

Annual weekend retreat helps grieving families heal

LifePath Hospice invites families who have suffered the loss of a family member to attend our annual family weekend retreat November 1 – 2 at Florida FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City. The camp environment combines exciting outdoor activities with opportunities for brief group discussions led by professional counselors. One of the most poignant activities is a memorial service designed to provide healing and closure. The camp also includes recreational and therapeutic activities.

A minimal registration fee of $25 is requested for each family unit; however, no one will be denied acceptance due to inability to pay. The registration deadline is October 24, 2008. For more information or to register, call the Bereavement Department at 1-800-209-2200.

LifePath Hospice brings Polynesian paradise to Tampa Bay

Set sail for an exotic evening of Polynesian splendor without ever leaving Tampa. Plan to attend this year’s Sun Trust Island Night at Jackson’s, Sunday, November 9 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Jackson’s Bistro on Harbour Island.

Island Night, now in its 17th year, is the annual fundraising event for LifePath Hospice. The evening will combine fabulous foods, magnificent Mai Tais, wonderful wines and spectacular shopping all to benefit a great cause – the programs and services of LifePath Hospice, which provides exceptional hospice care for nearly 1,500 patients each day.

Tickets are $100 per person. Sponsorships for Island Night are still available, and volunteers are needed to make the event a success. For more information, contact Amanda Maynor at 813-871-8093 or maynora@lifepath-hospice.org.
